A remote and peaceful province. 4 hours from the city, near dive sites. Beautiful and peaceful. Whale shark diving should not be missed, but weekends and holidays should be avoided because there are 1000 people wanting and waiting is high.

It is a provincial town where people are friendly but no supermarkets, just small local stores and bakeries. Could not buy yoghurt, for example. You can get fresh-cooked local food in the north side of the town (there is a grass field opposite the church/rown hall) with a number of food stalls, great vegetable noodles and mango shake! Many local eateries where the food is pre-cooked, and also roast chicken for takeaway. I stayed in a resort-style hostel (Nordzee Hostel) with it's own beach and bar and a wonderful place to relax for a few days. Not much to do in the town itself, but close to Osmena Peak, a couple of waterfalls and Oslob (but you could also stay overnight in Oslob, there are guesthouses there with their own beach as well).
